How to stay in shape when the weather is hot
Many hospitals in Beijing reported a significant rise in the number of patients and emergency cases last week due to the heat wave. Besides sunburn and dehydration, most patients suffering from high fever, heart pain, vomiting, asthma and other health problems, as said by Dr. Jianren Li from Beijing Emergency Center.
The number of people complaining rheumatic and fever, which is caused by long exposure to the air conditioning, is also get a large increase. So, Dr. Li and several other experts offer the following advice for staying fit during the heat wave :
Try to plan the day in a way that allows you to avoid the heat and avoid going out in the hot conditions during the day (usually at 11:00 AM – 03:00 AM).
If you can not avoid strenuous activities such as sports or gardening, do it in the cooler part of the day, such as early morning or evening.
If you must go out, stay in the shade. Wear a hat and light clothing that is sized loose is better than cotton. If you spend a long time outside the home, bring plenty of water.
Inside the house, stay in the cool room. Distributes air into outside at night but close the windows and curtains during the daytime. Indoor plants will help cool your home because of evaporation. Shower with cold and splash cold water several times a day to your body.
Drink regularly, even if you do not feel thirsty. Water and fruit juices are the most good. Avoid alcohol, tea, and coffee and All drinks that make dehydration. Try to eat more cold food, particularly salads and fruit that contain water.
