A research results reveal, an ancient Chinese martial art “Tai Chi” is a best choice for the elderly. Someone who had not practiced Tai Chi is exposed to risk of heart disease 40 percent higher.

Tai Chi involves body and mind in slow movement. The movement in Tai Chi is done on the basis of coordination and relaxation, not using muscle tension.

Scientists from the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong believe, concentrating the mind on the movement would be better done in a calm condition. So the movement undoubtedly can help lower blood pressure and maintaining hearth health.

According to researchers, they discover that someone who practices the techniques of Tai Chi can improve the expansion and contraction of the blood vessels, which can prevent heart disease. Besides Tai Chi can also increase strength and suppleness of the muscles in the knee, especially for the elderly.

Although Tai Chi was the martial arts that has grown very long in China, but research on the interrelationship of Tai Chi just be done recently.

“This is the first study to investigate possible effects of Tai Chi on the heart,” said one researcher Dr. William Tsang, as reported by the Huffingtonpost. The combination of aerobic, stretching, mental concentration and meditation during movements of Tai Chi can in fact take effect either on the heart.
