The health expert from Universitas Sumatera Utara(USU) Dr. Lindarto Dharma says obesity or overweight can trigger disturbances on health.
“That’s why, the community should always attempt to keep his condition,” he said at a seminar with themed “Good Doctor for the Perfect Metabolism, Seminaron Managing Metabolic Syndrome” in Medan.
According to him, if the body has begun to get a disruption of metabolism can cause health disorders when it is not immediately handled. That certain disorders, such as diabetes miletus, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, or heart failure.
In the seminar, he said that obesity and metabolic syndrome is a health problem that needs to get attention. Despite don’t feeling sick, people who are obese have to be alert because the his body has got a disruption of metabolism, especially cholesterol and carbohydrates that can trigger chronic inflammation.
“An easy way to find out the central obesity is quite easy, by measuring the circumference of the abdomen. It is central obesity, when the male abdomen circumference more than 90 centimeters and above 80 cm for women, “he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Perhimpunan Dokter Spesialis Penyakit Dalam (Papdi) In North Sumatra, Professor Harun Alrasyid Hasan Damanik says that someone needs to apply the settings of a diet to lose weight.
The eating arrangements in an effort to lose weight should be done regulary and should be continued to keep if you want get diet successfully. According to him there are several dietary patterns, i.e. a low calorie diet, energy deficit diet, low carbohidrat, and balancing calories diet.
“The basic principles of this diet is to reduce the portion of food, reducing intake of energy a day by limiting fat, high in vegetables and fruit as well as sufficient protein, and do some types of sports i.e aerobics, walking, cycling, swimming, and so on, “he said.
